I’m conscious that I call this my “newsletter”, and then go and fill it up with all sorts of stuff that may or may not be of interest to you (I once even talked about my beloved greyhounds) but which can only rarely be accurately called “news”. However, for once I actually have some news about the firm to give – we’re moving office!
After 8 years in our current home, we were made a very tempting offer from a landlord with a unit that was about to be vacated, and which had been kept to a very high standard by the previous tenant. I walked into the office and immediately thought “yes – I want to work here!”. Our client and longstanding legal advisor Lanyon Bowdler* stepped in to do the legal work, and did another superb job. The landlord quickly arranged a few changes to the internal layout for us, and our client and IT support partner TTG** sorted out connectivity, cabling and all the other IT-related bits. We will have full access from the end of October and will be making the move on Friday 7 November, assisted by yet another client – Clarkes of Amersham***, who will be sending one of their distinctive blue lorries to pick up and transport all of the paraphernalia that collectively lets us run the business.
We will be out of action that day, but will be up and running again the following Monday 10th November. If any of your cases have a deadline falling on the 7th, then we will either have been in touch already or you’ll be hearing from us shortly.

So where are we going? Our new address will be 7 Eghams Court, Boston Drive, Bourne End, Buckinghamshire SL8 5YS. Our email addresses and telephone numbers will be staying the same – info@downing-ip.com and +44/0 1494 422626. We’re very much looking forward to the move, Bourne End is a delightful village on the banks of the River Thames; we are directly opposite the rail station with links into London, accessible from the M40 motorway nearby, and just a short walk from the village centre with ample options for lunch! Bourne End was also once the residence of the renowned French aviator, inventor, and engineer Louis Blériot, we will be delighted to look after the IP needs of anyone inspired by his memory. The office itself is lovely – as you can see from the photos – and we look forward to welcoming our more locally-based clients for a chat in the new meeting room.
Until next time...
Best Wishes
Michael
